Submarines: January 4, 2000

Archives

Australia has decided to spend $266 million repairing and refitting the brand-new Collins-class submarines Sheean and Dechaineux. Half of this money will fix the problems in the original design of the combat system, the rest will provide new and enhanced capabilities. This will upgrade the computers, reduce noise, provide for discrete communications, and make some changes to the hull. --Stephen V Cole
