The US Navy has developed yet another plan for unmanned aircraft.

@ The Pioneer Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) program will be handed over to the
Marines next year.

@ The Navy will support an Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle but only slowly. The design, intended to attack enemy air defenses and penetrate heavily-defended areas to attack key targets, will become operational in 2015.

@ The Navy will spend R&D funds to build two Global Hawks in 2003-2004 and use them for experiments and to develop an operational doctrine in Broad Area Maritime Surveillance. This will result in the Navy Global Hawk going into production in 2007.--Stephen V Cole
